‘Baby Alpaca’ fibre, recognised as one of the finest and most luxurious fibres in the world, is now available in our catalogue.

‘Baby Alpaca’ is a very fine fibre that represents the softest part of the alpaca’s coat. The fibre diameter of baby alpaca must be between 18 and 22 microns.

“Baby Alpaca” wool, which we use to create various garments and accessories, is often compared to silk due to its softness and comfort when worn; however, it has even more qualities, as it is silkier and keeps you warmer.

Our Peruvian craftspeople can obtain this excellent quality fibre from an adult alpaca with a very fine fleece, or from a baby alpaca if its wool is of the required fineness.

There are various reasons to purchase an accessory or garment made from 100 per cent Peruvian baby alpaca fibre, notably for its softness and warmth, but also for its fineness, durability, water-repellency and because it is one of the very few natural fibres that has hypoallergenic properties.
