Peruvian fabrics handmade with love and passion by artisans from the city of Cusco. The "manto peruano" or "lliclla" in Quechua is a beautiful, colorful, useful and very practical fabric.

This fabric can have many decorative or practical uses.

This Peruvian fabric can be used as a tablecloth, wall decoration, decoration for sofas, beds and other furniture. But also as a baby blanket, as a beach towel, sarong, picnic tablecloth in the park or at the beach, etc. In Peru, women use the Aguayo or Peruvian canvas to carry their babies or transport their merchandise to sell in the markets.

Where were they made?

Our fabrics were made in Southern Peru in Cusco.

In the cities of Cuzco there is a large population of artisans dedicated to textile art. These artists still preserve the varied and ancestral techniques of textile art such as the horizontal flat, stake or pedal loom, the 5-stick technique to make "chullos" or traditional Peruvian hats, among others.

What are the different types of fibers we use?

The rapid adaptation of our Peruvian craftsmen allows them to work with all kinds of yarns and thus switch from vegetable yarns to synthetic yarns. This currently allows us to offer vegan or organic products.

What types of dyes do we use?

The natural dyes at hand are mainly those of vegetable origin, such as plants, bark, flowers, fruits, seeds, etc. These dyes allow a palette of varied colors and warm shades: browns, oranges, ocher through yellow and green. For the most intense colors, such as red and blue, we need dyes like cochineal and indigo. With these colorants we can obtain the other part of the color wheel, that is, red and blue in all their ranges.

A bit of history

Our Peruvian fabrics represent the oldest art in Peru which is textile art. Textile art is an art that was born before ceramic and metallurgical art. The oldest fabric remains date back to over 6000 BC and were found in the pre-ceramic settlement of Huaca Prieta, on the northern coast of Peru.

Our ancestors before the Inca culture were already ecological since the technique of vegetable dyeing of cotton, an organic fiber, also dates back to thousands of years before J.C.
